METHUEN, MA - Sr. Bernadette Tousignant, 98, a Sister of the Presentation of Mary Order died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at the Ste. Claire Residence. Sr. Bernadette, was born in Fitchburg, MA on Sept. 8, 1909, the oldest of 17 children. She was a graduate of Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH and of Rivier College in Nashua, NH. She also attended Assumption College in Worcester, MA and Boston College.
Sr. Bernadette entered into the Sister of the Presentation of Mary in St. Hyacinthe, Canada in 1929 and in 1932 made her religious profession taking the name of Sr. Alice- Therese. She taught school in Massachusetts and Maine for 25 years, where she served as both teacher and principal. She retired at Residence St. Claire in 1983.
Survivors include, three sisters, Lucille Lanen of Sun City, FL, Pauline Miller of Enfield, CT and Phyllis Tousignant of Long Island, NY; four brothers, Leonard of Washington, DC, Normand of Annandale, VA, Roger of Gardner, MA and Ronald of Long Beach, NC. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Ste. Claire Residence, 209 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Monday July 21, at 1:00 PM at the Chapel at Residence St. Claire. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
