Francis H. Newton of Stoneham, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2008 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He was 80 years of age.
Born in Boston, Francis was the loving son of the late Francis E. Henry and Elizabeth (Dicicco) Newton. Francis was a warm and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Francis worked as an Electrical Contractor with Local 103 for 40 years. During World War II, Francis proudly defended our freedom.
Francis was the Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Grunzweig) and the late Doris P. Newton. He was the Devoted father of Diane Mayo and her husband Tom of Stoneham. Francis was the Cherished grandfather of Danielle Sugrue and her husband Michael of N. Andover, Nicole Mayo and her fiancé Brad Williams of Stoneham, Matt and Michael Mayo both of Stoneham. GreatGrandfather of Madison Sugrue. Francis was the Dear brother of Joseph Newton of CA, Jean Zaremba of Wakefield, Henry Newton of Woburn, Edward Newton of Lynnfield, Sally Strachan of N. Attleboro, Betty Sullivan of Hopkinton and Richard Newton of Lynnfield. He was also the Brother-in-law of Lorraine MacKenzie and her late husband Thomas, Dawn Cobb and her husband Chuck, Arlene Johnson, Alan MacKenzie and his wife Sandra and Marilyn Kearney and her husband Joseph. Francis was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Francis’ Life will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
