John J. McCarthy, Jr., age 82, of Salem, NH died Saturday at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
John was born in Lawrence where grew up and was educated, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1937. He later moved to Methuen, MA then to Salem, NH in 1975.
John served his country in the US Army during World War II and then went to work as an inspector with Western Electric in North Andover, MA retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, NH.
John was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the American Legion. He enjoyed building radios, building model boats and photography and developed his own pictures.
He was the widow of E. Sonja (Springer) McCarthy.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church. A calling hour will be Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
