Elizabeth Anne (Sample) Nowell of Needham died on Saturday July 12th at the Hospice of Woodside in St. Petersburg, FL. Born July 30, 1925 to Henry and Mabel Sample, Betty grew up in Fall River and graduated from High School in 1942. She later moved to Needham with her husband David Nowell and had resided in Needham for the past 43 years. While in Needham Betty was involved with the girl scouts, became an active member of the Needham Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon and a member of Church Women’s United Group. She was also active in Rainbow Girls and served as mother advisor, a member of Order of Eastern Star, past president of the Women’s Republican Club and was also a member of the Needham Garden Club. Betty collected and delivered clothes to the poor and volunteered at the Needham Senior Center. Betty leaves her husband David R. Nowell of 53 years, her daughter Judith Nowell Crum of Largo, FL. and her brother Richard A. Sample of Watertown ,NY. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: David, Abagail , Jeffory, two step- grandchildren, Tabetha, Debbie, and three great grandchildren Cecilia, Antonio and Emily. Aunt of Jeannie, Scotty and Becky. Funeral services at the Presbyterian Church 1458 Great Plain Ave in Needham on Monday July 21st at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Sunday July 20th from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River on Monday at 12:00 Noon.
