Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral from The J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123)Brockton Tuesday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater at 9 am. Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery at a later date. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 pm. In ieu of flowers donations in John’s memory may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, 3350 W. Obituary
Mr. Nihan died Thursday at his home in Florida after a longtime illness. He was born in North Easton, he was the son of the late John “Jack” Nihan and Josephine (Crittenton) Nihan. He attended Oliver Ames High School.
He was a resident of Brockton until 1978, Bridgewater until 1991 then retired to Hernando, Florida. During WW II he served in the US Army in Europe. He was employed by the City of Brockton for many years as a heavy equipment operator. He also owned Nihan Removal Services.
Member of Enterprise Club and Bertocci Club. He enjoyed boating and fishing.
He is survived his wife Charlotte V. (Russell) Nihan; 5 daughters Mary Ellen Pelaggi of Whitman, Diane Della Volpe of Bourne, Charlotte Fahey of CA., Maureen Nye of East Bridgewater, Darlene Saraiva of East Bridgewate; 3 sons John Nihan of Wareham, James Nihan of Bridgewater and William Nihan of Lynn; 2 sisters, Jacqueline Sweeney of Gainesville, FL and Maureen Martin of Cross Hill, SC; 2 daughter in laws; 4 son in laws; 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews
