Carlos S. Andrade, Sr., 74, of New Bedford died Friday July 11, 2008 at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria Fernanda (Ferro) Andrade.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Anibal and Maria (Santos) Andrade, he lived in New Bedford since 1960.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Andrade was formerly employed as a machinist for Smith & Nephew in Mansfield until his retirement. He previously had worked at Morse Cutting Tools.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Anibal Andrade of Dakar, Senegal, Michael Andrade of Middleboro, David Andrade, Carlos Andrade Jr., and Anthony Andrade, all of New Bedford; a brother, Sinis "Sonny" Andrade of South Carolina; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece and many cousins.
He was the father of the late Roberto Andrade.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
