Charles R. Vass, 77 years of Brockton, died Monday December 24, at Goddard Transitional Care in Stoughton after a period of failing health. Mr. Vass was born and raised in Brockton, son of the late Charles and Mary (Flood) Vass. He attended Brockton schools and was a graduate of Brockton High School. During WWII Mr. Vass was employed by ForeRiver Shipyard as a welder on the ships. He had been employed by the Howard Johnson Plant on Battle Street for many years. He was an avid bowler and a member of the Shoe City Duckpin League. He is survived by his wife Claire J. (Edwards) Vass, 1 son John W. Vass of Bridgewater, 3 daughters Karen M. Catalfamo of Norton, Deborah J. Bamber of Norwood, and Jo-Ann M. Landry of E. Bridgewater. 1 brother William B. Vass of Wareham, 3 sisters Mary Principe of Brockton, Louise Ramondetta of Rockland and Virginia Mahon and 16 grandchildren. He was the father of the late Russell C. Vass.
