Angelo Matarazzo, 74 of Medford, died Thursday evening at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a lengthy illness. He was a Medford resident for thirty-three years formerly of Boston´s North End. Born in San Pottito, Italy he was the son of the late Luigi and Immacolata (Ferullo) Matarazzo. Angelo is the Beloved husband of Nicolina (LoRusso) Matarazzo.
Angelo came to the United States in 1953 leaving his job as a police officer in Italy and settled in the North End of Boston and began working as a candy maker for the Schraffts Candy Co. in Charlestown. He was employed there for thirty-one years. Angelo loved gardening and taking care of his home.
In addition to his beloved wife Nicolina, Angelo is survived by four daughters, Maria Loughran of Winchester, Gina DelTorto of Saugus, Angela Alves of Boston, Joanna Littlefield of Pittsburgh, PA, and one son, Anthony Matarazzo of Medford. Mr. Matarazzo is the loving grandfather of Nicole, Sean, Anthony, Andrea, Danielle, Talia and Derek. He is also survived by a sister, Carmella Luisi of Boston, and two brothers, Luigino Matarazzo of Everett and Guiseppe Matarazzo of Italy.
Mr. Matarazzo´s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, at 10 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church 118 High St. Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum.
