Obituary

WORCESTER-Georgios N. Vasiliadis, 71, of Worcester, died Saturday, July 5th while vacationing in Serres, Greece. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Georgia (Tekelis) Vasiliadis; two sons, Nicholas G. and his wife, Susan Vasiliadis, Bill G. and his wife, Rita Vasiliadis; two brothers, Vasilios N. and his wife, Maria Vasiliadis, and Polihronis N. and his wife Melanthi Vasiliadis; two sisters, Costadinia, wife of George Voyiatzis, and Maria Georgiadis all of Worcester. He also leaves his loving grandchildren, George, Maria and Leah Vasiliadis and George, Maria and Philip Vasiliadis; and many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Hrisohorafa, Serres, Greece, the son of Nikolaos and Rodi (Dimitriakopoulos) Vasiliadis, and had lived in Germany from 1970 until 1977, when he came to Worcester. Mr. Vasiliadis owned and operated many successful businesses in Worcester. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Order of AHEPA and Union Hrisohorafiton Cultural Center. Georgios enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face.

The funeral is Saturday, July 12th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, July 11th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
