John Patrick English Jr. of Stoneham passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury. He was 77 years of age.
Born in Stoneham, Mr. English lived in Los Angeles, California for 37 years before returning to Stoneham fifteen years ago. Jack was a lifelong self-employed musician. During his decorated music career, Jack played piano along side Louis Prima, Joni James, Judy Garland and Anita O’Day. He was referred to as a “Musician’s Musician.” His repertoire of music was limitless. Jack was also a Jazz pianist at the famous Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Boston. Mr. English attended prestigious institutions such as Boston College, Dartmouth College and Amherst College. During World War II, Mr. English proudly served our country in the United States Army.
Mr. English was the devoted father of Moria Bogardus of Phoenix, Arizona and John P. English III of Kansas. Jack was the cherished grandfather of Erin Bogardus. He was the dear brother of Robert B. English of Oregon, Kathleen English Bray of Stoneham, Joanne English Dockrell of Georgia and Carolyn English Caci of North Chelmsford. Jack is also survived by 14 loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours Sunday 1-3 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. STONEHAM at 3 p.m.
