George E. Tripp, 87, of Westport passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was husband of the late Stella M. (Kuczek) Tripp.
Born in Westport, son of the late Frederick L. and Freda (Goodell) Tripp, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School. A United States Army veteran, he served his country in WWII. Mr. Tripp was one of the owners of F.L. Tripp & Sons Boat Yard of Westport.
Survivors include a son: Paul E. Tripp and his wife Joan of Westport; a daughter: Suzanne T. Donovan and her husband Tim of Portsmouth, RI; 3 brothers: Harold F. Tripp of Westport, Allen G. Tripp of Westport and Russell M. Tripp of Westport; 2 sisters: Ethelyn E. Scholfield of NH and Alethea M. Reed of CT; 4 grandchildren: Carly Tripp, Blake Tripp, Mackenzie Donovan and Morgan Donovan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Leonard J. Tripp, Irving F. Tripp and Frederick L. Tripp, Jr.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M.
Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
