Obituary

Fred Tucker, 66, of the Lands Crossing community in Irwin County, died Wednesday, July 2 at Tift Regional Medical Centers Medical Oncology Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, July 5 at Eureka Primitive Baptist Church, Irwin County with Elder Jamey Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Tucker was born July 12, 1941 in Irwin County to the late G.B. and Willa Ree Morehead Tucker. He lived in the community most of his life and was a former resident of Savannah. Mr. Tucker was a farmer, a former employee of Rainbow Irrigation Systems and retired from the U.S. Postal Services after thirty years of service. He was a member and former shop steward of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Mr. Tucker was a member of Eureka Primitive Baptist Church.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Ann Luke Tucker of the Lands Crossing community; daughter & son-in-law, Joanna & Quintin Varnum of Pinecrest, FL; son & daughter-in-law, Derek & Melanie Tucker of Ambrose; grandchildren, John, Justin and Jared Varnum and Nace Tucker; brother & sister-in-law, G.M. & Linda Tucker of the Lands Crossing community. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Tucker.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Eureka Primitive Baptist Church c/o David Howell, 1094 Waterloo-Rebecca Hwy. Chula, GA 31733.
