Obituary

BEVERLY: Barbara Ann (Phillips) Feenan, 76, died peacefully Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late John Shaw Feenan who died in January 2003.
Born in Salem on January 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Eunice (Thornell) Phillips. A graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1949, Barbara grew up in Salem before moving to Beverly fifty years ago with her husband.
Barbara was employed by the New England Telephone Company and the Beverly Hospital as a switchboard operator for many years. Barbara was an avid golfer, bridge player, sports fan, cook and tenacious knitter. She was an active and devoted volunteer of Hospice of the North Shore and found tremendous joy in dedicating her time and energy to the love and welfare of her numerous family and friends. Her memory will live on in all of our hearts.
Barbara is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Susan M. Sullivan of Beverly, MA, Nancy A. and John Snell of Goffstown, NH, Janis L. and Joseph Hilton of Statesville, NC, and Amy and Pete Favat of Weston, a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Denise Feenan of West Palm Beach, FL. She was the beloved grandmother of eleven grandchildren, Laura, Katie and Kelly Sullivan, all of Beverly, Allyson and Bryanna Snell of Goffstown, NH, Joshua and Trevor Slaven and Benjamin Hilton, all of Statesville, NC, Harrison Feenan of West Palm Beach, FL and Cian and Juliette Favat of Weston, MA., a brother, Richard “Buddy” Phillips of Fort Myers, FL, numerous nieces and nephews and her pampered puppy, Brewster. She is also predeceased by her sister, Ruth Moore.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in the Central Cemetery, Beverly.
