Rheupert Paulk Jernigan, 81, of Tifton died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Craig Nalls and Rev. Gary Cadwell will officiate with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. Hugh Jernigan, Mark Lyles, Jay Laycock, Lee Frazier, John Damagala, Craig Patterson and Joey Benefield will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 29, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Jernigan was born on November 29, 1926 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Grady Paulk and Bessie Griffin Paulk, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Lee Jernigan, Sr. and one brother. She was retired from Belk-Hudson and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jernigan is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Hubert Lee, Jr. and Linda T. Jernigan of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jimmy Benefield of Enigma; three sisters, Maeruth Purvis of Ocilla, Marie Outten of Tifton, and Annie Jim Daniels of Fitzgerald; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Dawn and Mark Lyles, Lee and April Frazier, Anna and John Damagala, Brooke and Jay Laycock, Serena and Craig Patterson, Hugh and Brooke Jernigan, Joey Benefield and Jimmy Benefield, Jr.; and eleven great grandchildren.
