NO. BILLERICA - Eleanor M. (Prescott) Johnson, age 88, died peacefully on Saturday morning, June 28, with her family at her side, at Palm Manor Nursing Center in Chelmsford, after a long period of declining health. She was the wife for 38 years of the late Herbert Johnson, who died in 1978.
She was born in Lowell, November 16, 1919, a daughter of the late Lester and Mary (Brown) Prescott. She was raised in Lowell and Tewksbury, and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1938. She lived for five decades on Mellon Road in North Billerica.
She was an active member of the North Billerica Baptist Church, and a member of the A.B.C. Women's Club at the church. In her later years, she was active in the Billerica Senior Citizens Club, and the Billerica Golden Age Club.
She was an accomplished craftswoman and rug maker, who worked as an adult education instructor in rug braiding.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda M. Wilder and her friend Ed Clark of Pepperell, MA; a son and daughter-in-law, James M. Johnson and his wife Paula (Yoel) of Nashua, NH; six grandchildren, Lisa Talcott, Robin Miller, and Karen Wilder all of Townsend, Daryl, Eric and Alissa Johnson all of Nashua, NH; five great grandchildren, Brooke, Brianna, Brett, Nicholas and Jake; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Linda Z. Johnson of Derry, NH.
She was also sister of the late Edith Brown.
A Memorial service was held Wednesday, July 2, in the Funeral Home. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in Westford. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, will be appreciated.
