LOWELL - Richard H. Filiatrault, 68, beloved husband for 49 years of Althea L. (Flanders) Filiatrault of Lowell, died Wednesday evening in the Willow Manor Nursing Care Center in Lowell.

Born in Lowell on March 4, 1940, he was the son of the late Francis X. and Alice (Ledoux) Filiatrault. He received his education in the Lowell school system.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during peace time as a member of the United States Army National Guard.

Prior to his retirement in 2005, Mr. Filiatrault had been employed for 38 years as a Plastic Technician by Raytheon in Andover. In his early years he had been employed by the former Prince Macaroni in Lowell.

He was a member of the Klaxon Auto Club in Dracut and was an avid antique car enthusiast and enjoyed his time driving his 1938 Buick Special. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a special connection with the wild foxes, squirrels and chipmunks in his back yard.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Gloria Diane and Gary Robinson of Townsend; two sons Richard Douglas Filiatrault of New Durham, NH and David Andrew Filiatrault of Lowell; three grandsons Eli and Charles Meharg of Townsend and Devin Fischette of Lowell; two brothers Brother Charles "Frank" Filiatrault Marist Brother in Miami, FL, and Paul and his wife Nora Filiatrault of Columbus, OH; and several extended family members.

It being his wish, Funeral Services will be private and are entrusted to the care of DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
