Obituary


FAIRHAVEN — Dorothy Kelley, 86, of Fairhaven died June 23, 2008, at Alden Court after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Frederick J. Kelley, Sr.

Born in New Bedford on May 23, 1922, the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret (Littler) Woodacre Jr., she lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven all her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Kinyon Campbell School.

Mrs. Kelley worked at Maryland Casualty Company, W. T. Grant and the Health Department of the City of New Bedford. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her favorite family activities were camping and hiking. Dorothy enjoyed many hobbies including painting, sewing, crocheting, cake decorating and especially baking cookies with her grandchildren at Christmas.

Survivors include her three children, Frederick J. Kelley, Jr., of Fall River, Stephen M. Kelley of Newton and Deborah K. Trahan of Mattapoisett; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Woodacre, III; several nieces and nephews; and her friends at Alden Court survive Dorothy. She was mother of the late Christopher M. Kelley and the sister of the late Stanley and Robert Woodacre.

Funeral from the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford Thursday, June 26, 2008, at 10AM. Funeral service at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 357 Main St., Fairhaven at 11AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
