New Bedford – Maria Conceicao (Tavares) Ventura, age 78, died Tuesday June 24, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Domingos Ventura of New Bedford. Mrs. Ventura was the mother of Jorge M. and Jose F. Ventura, Maria A. Medeiros, Julieta C. Borges and Lucia F. Carreiro all of New Bedford and Artemisia Ventura of Florida. She is also survived by a sister Julieta Nunes of New Bedford, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joe and Manuel Tavares.
Mrs. Ventura was a daughter of the late Jose and Maria C. (Nascimento) Tavares. She was born in Santa Cruz, Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area for much of her life. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ventura’s Funeral will be Thursday at the Perry Funeral, Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
