Obituary

SHREWSBURY- Thomas M. Carr 77, of 5 Francis Gardens Ct. formerly of South Yarmouth, Retired Assistant Administrator of Saint Vincent’s Hospital and WWII Army Air Corps Veteran died Saturday in St. Vincent’s Hospital after an illness.

His wife Barbara (Halewood) Carr died in 1982.

He is survived by his daughter Beverly A. Brewer, and a son James A. Carr both of Shrewsbury, a brother; Robert Carr, of Hopedale, a sister; Nancy Gillette, of Kingsland, GA 6 Grandchildren; Bethany (Mawdsley) Emery of Auburn, Brian Mawdsley of Somerville, Brent Mawdsley, of Boston and Shrewsbury, Jeffrey, Jason and Jennifer Carr, all of Shrewsbury. Mr. Carr also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Born in Newton, son of the late Thomas M. and Mildred (McNutt) Carr he was raised and educated in the Waltham, and Newton areas, he graduated from Newton High School, Class of 1944

A WWII Veteran Mr. Carr served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an airplane and engine mechanic.

Mr. Carr worked for G.E./Crompton Knowles as a computer installer, and technician for many years, prior to becoming the Assistant Administrator at Saint Vincent Hospital, a position he held for over 20 years.

The Funeral will be held Tuesday March 11, 2003 with a service at 10:00 AM in Trinity Episcopal Church 440 West Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling Hours at the Funeral Home will be held Monday March 10, 2003 from 5-8 PM Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street (brittonfuneralhomes.com) is directing arrangements.
