Mr. Charles E. Eastman, 88, of 1 Pine Street, Gorham, NH passed away on Monday June 16, 2008 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Berlin, NH on September 13, 1919 the son of Tony G. and Mabel (Holroyd) Eastman and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a graduate of Berlin High School and the University of New Hampshire. He was a US Army veteran of WW2. Charlie was self employed for many years as owner of the Yokohama Restaurant in Gorham and prior to that, he co-owned with his brother Glen, the Eastman Furniture Store in Berlin. In his earlier years, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Members of the family include his wife Tazuru (Doki) Eastman; two daughters Laura Towle and her husband Samuel and Lynn Tremblay and her husband Michel, all of Gorham; a son Mike Eastman and his wife Nancy of Parkville, Missouri; two grandsons and one great grandson; a brother Glen Eastman and his wife Janice of Gorham; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister June Riso.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Friday morning June 20, 2008 at 11 AM at the Dummer Community Church in Dummer, NH. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street, Gorham, NH on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM.
