TEWKSBURY - Charles B. Ogden, age 69, a retired Q.C. Auditor for AT & T, diedunexpectedly Friday evening, Mar. 7, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, after sufferingan apparent heart attack at his home in Tewksbury. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Smith)Ogden, with whom he had celebrated a Golden Wedding Anniversary (50th) on February 2nd.
He was born in Charlestown, March 16, 1933, a son of the late Jesse and Beatrice (Chapman)Ogden. He was raised in Somerville, where he lived until moving to Tewksbury in 1965.
During the Korean war, he served in the Marine Corps, and was assigned to the shipboardsecurity forces. He was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran.
He received his degree from Northeastern University. He was employed by AT & T, now calledLucent Technologies, the successor companies to Western Electric’s - North Andover Productionand Research Center. He retired as a Quality Control Auditor, having worked from 1965 until1999.
He enjoyed league play at Academy Bowling Lanes in North Andover, and also played golf forseveral golf leagues. He was a baseball fan, and also a skilled handyman and carpenter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary B. Ogden and his wifeCatherine Padberg of San Antonio, TX, Gregg M. and his wife Carole (Uhron) Ogden ofNewburyport; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula J. and her husband Steve Guttadauro ofWakefield, five grandchildren, Luke and Cody Guttadauro, Christopher, Jessica, and MatthewOgden; one brother, James Ogden of No. Andover; two sisters, Beatrice and her husband JohnPrice of Billerica, and Dorothy Ogden of Somerville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, Mar. 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
