KEANE-Lorraine K. of New York, NY, and formerly of Winthrop, passed away on June 2, 2008. She was 80 years old. Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Anna E. (Reed). Keane. She was a singer for the Metropolitan Opera for 44 years. She received a BA and Masters degrees in Music from the New England Conservatory with further study in Germany. Before joining the Met. Lorraine appeared in leading roles with various opera companies on the NBC TV opera series. She served on the Board of Governors at the American Guild of Musical Artists for 38 years. Lorraine sang with many leading opera artists, including Sutherland, Domingo, Price, and Pavarotti, on stage, concerts, and television. A Graveside Service was held at the Winthrop Cemetery on June 12, 2008, at 2:30pm. Funeral arrangements were from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, WINTHROP.
