William `Bill` Griff Nicholson, 83, Clarksville, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Madison Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Lenoir Culbertson and and Rev. Dr. Ben R. Alford officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel and from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Nicholson was born November 12, 1924 in Montgomery County son of the late Henry Griff Nicholson and Willie Adkins Nicholson. He was owner of Bill Nicholson Used Cars, Inc. He was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church where he was a usher for twenty years and was a member of the Willard Blue Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife Helen Gupton Nicholson; a son Clark Griff Nicholson (Susan), Clarksville; a sister Pauline A. Buchanan, Paris, TN; two grandchildren, Martha Dawson Nicholson, and Samuel Clark Nicholson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Hildred S. Nicholson. Pallbearers will be Blaine Harris, Brett Harris, Ken Harris, Brooks Jarrell, Jimmy Jarrell, Ralph Jarrell, Edmund Terrell, Jerry Rager, Bill Gray, and Rip Alan Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be Tubb Jarrell, Henry Rye, Lyn Rye, Bill Ogles, Sr., Ray Darnell, Dr. Dawson Durrett, Curtis Johnson, Harry Pee Wee Dunn, Monte Mitchell, Gordon Grissom and members of Moss's Round Table.
