Charles A. Doherty of Stoneham passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at his home. He was 79 years of age.
Born in Medford, Charles was the loving son of the late Charles M. Doherty and Helen (Cotter) Doherty. Charles was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Charles was the Past President of Bear Hill Associates. He coordinated the Development of “Charlie’s Pond” at Bear Hill Country Club to benefit Bear Hill and the local community. During World War II, Charles proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Navy.
Charles was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis E. (Hill) Doherty. He was the devoted father of Charles Doherty, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Malden, Glenn Doherty of Stoneham, Paula Zavrl and her husband Frank of Andover and Phillip Doherty of Stoneham. Charles was the cherished grandfather of Julie, Mark and Laura. He was the dear brother of Mary Louise Doherty of Medford and Joan H. Mahoney of CT. Charles was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Saturday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Charles’ life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours, Friday 2-4 & 6-9 pm. Parking attendants will be available.
