Worcester
May F. (Anguria) Jennette, 86, of Worcester died Wed., June 11 at the Knollwood Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Worcester on May 1, 1922 the youngest of six children to, Angelo and Mary (Testa) Anguria. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1940 and attended Framingham State College, graduating in 1944. She married Paul F. Jennette, Sr. in 1948. May was a registered dietician and was employed by Worcester City Hospital where she became the head of dietary services. She left her position to raise her six children. When her children were grown, she worked in the family business, Central Shoe repair, owned and operated by her husband.
May was an avid sports fan but loved college and professional football in particular. She also loved attending Holy Cross basketball games and Red Sox games. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She was a devoted wife and mother and a wonderful grandmother to her nine grandchildren. She had many close friendships, especially with her Rydall St. neighbors, which she cherished throughout her life.
She leaves six children, Susan Emond and her husband Philip of New York, Paul Jennette, Jr. and his wife Mary of Worcester, Carol Erskine and her husband James, Stephen Jennette of Worcester, David Jennette and his wife Carolyn of Worcester and Robert Jennette of Connecticut. Her husband of 59 years, Paul Jennette, Sr. died in October 2007. She also leaves nine grandchildren, David Emond and his wife Meghan, Bretta, Ryan, Nicholas and Maxwell Erskine, Michael, Kimberly, Anthony and Lyndsay Jennette; two sisters, Alice and Grace Anguria both of Worcester; a sister in law, Rose Mason of Grafton; nieces and nephews and many cousins. Two sisters, Anne Cravedi and Rita Alexanian and a brother,William Anguria predeceased her. She was a wonderful loving mother who will be greatly missed.
The funeral will be held Sat., June 14, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Fri., June. 13, from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
