Obituary

Joseph Vincent Fahey 79, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Whitman, died Saturday June 7th in the Sachem Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Phyllis (Webster) Fahey of Halifax, and the son of the late Simon and Evelyn ( Began) Fahey. Born in West Springfield, grew up in Roxbury, a graduate of Commerce High School. Joseph was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a superintendent for 18 years at the lumber terminal at Wiggin Terminals, Inc. in Boston and a driver for Walsh movers until retirement. He was a member of the Local 82 Teamsters Union.

In addition to his wife Phyllis, he is survived by his nine children, Richard Fahey of Cool, CA, Douglas Fahey of Plympton ,Deborah Diethelm of Southern Pines, NC, Christopher Fahey of Taunton, Corrine Sealey of Clements, CA ,Sheila Fahey of Rock Hill, SC, Brenda Cobis of Rochester, Brian Fahey of Whitman, and Derek Fahey of Naples, FL; also 19 grandchildren and one on the way and 1 great grandchild and one on the way. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Fahey of Squantum, Sister Madeline Fahey of Convent Station, NJ, Millie Kerrigan of Scituate and Margaret Hunt of Millis. He was also the sibling of the late Vincent (“Tom”), Simon, and Robert Fahey and Maureen Lapsley

His funeral service will be held Wednesday June 11th at 10:30 A. M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc, Plymouth Street (Rt 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, Halifax, MA. Visitation will be Tuesday June 10th from 4:00-8:00 P.M.
