TYNGSBORO - Donald A. Marcotte, 70, a longtime resident of Tyngsboro, died Saturday May 24th at his home after a long struggle with emphysema. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Fauvel ) (McCartney) Marcotte to whom he has been married for 20 years.
He was born in Lowell on May 15, 1938, and was a son of the late Adelard and Cecile (Tessier) Marcotte. He grew up in the "little Canada" section of Lowell and he attended Lowell schools.
Prior to his retirement in 2001 Mr. Marcotte was employed as a roller operator by Brox Industries in Dracut. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 4 in Boston.
He was a dedicated fan of the New England Patriots. He enjoyed playing pool and horseshoes and watching TV, especially Natalie Jacobson from channel 5 news. He also enjoyed time out in the community with his longtime friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Linda Wilks of Nashua, NH, Judith Radcliffe of Merrimack, NH, and Daniel Marcotte and his wife Heidi of Weare, NH; three step children Jeanne Gage and her husband Gary of Westminster, VT, David E. McCartney and his wife Meghan of Belcamp, MD, and Jennifer Welch and her husband Michael of Emmitsburg, MD; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; a brother Gerard Marcotte of Nebraska; two sisters Jean Mercier and her husband Leo of Hudson, NH; and Pearl Boutin and her husband Roger of NH.
A private funeral service was held on Friday. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg 9, Lawrence, MA 01843. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT.
