Obituary

TYNGSBORO - Charles Vallante, 92, a resident of Tyngsboro, died Tuesday June 3rd, at Radius Northwood Healthcare Center in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of Grace E. (Wood) Vallante to whom he was married for 61 years.

He was born in Lawrence on March 9, 1916, and was the son of the late Carlo B. and Marie (Ilio) Vallante. He received his education in Lawrence schools.

Mr. Vallante served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Stockton D.D. 646, and also the U.S.S. Wilks Barre CL-103. He earned the rank of Seaman First Class and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon Four Stars, and the Philippine Liberation With One Star.

Prior to his retirement, he was a self employed stone mason and was also a mechanic advisor for the United States Government at Fort Devens. Earlier in his life he was a mill worker.

In his free time he enjoyed restoring antique cars. He also enjoyed painting, which he began at 75 years of age.

He was a commincant of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut.

Mr. Vallante was survived by a two daughters and sons-in-law Lynne Vallante and Chris Katsikas of Palm Beach, FL, Deborah and Carlos Carrera of AZ; a son and daughter-in-law Charles and Debra Vallante of Quincy; several grandchildren including Kristi Tumpney and her husband Shane of Tyngsboro; several great grandchildren including Ty and Jenna Tumpney of Tyngsboro; two step grandchildren Mary and Toni Katskias; a sister and brother-in-law Vera and Donald Mellor of Dracut; dear friends Donna and Rhiannon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the father of the late Carl Vallante, and the brother of the late Angelo, Tony, Johnny, and Rita Vallante.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 12 until 1 PM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1:30 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut. Interment in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery.
