Obituary

Vera A. (McLatchey) Ledbury, 94 of Franklin died May 31 in the Sunbridge Care for Milford. She was the wife of the late Francis Ledbury who died in 1987.
Born in Vancouver, Canada May 19, 1914, the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Conroy) McLatchey, Mrs. Ledbury was raised in Norwood and had lived in Franklin for over 72 years.
Mrs. Ledbury was a graduate of Norwood High School.
Mrs. Ledbury had operated the Trading Post in Franklin, an antiques shop for many years.
Mrs. Ledbury was long active in Franklin town affairs. She was a longtime member of the Franklin Republican Town Committee.
She was a member of FISH, had volunteered at the Franklin Library and had provided props from her for the drama classes at both Franklin High School and Dean College.
Mrs. Ledbury had taught swimming at Dean College.
She had been a member of the Franklin Bridge
Club founded by Thelma Knowlton in 1930 of which she was a member of 65 years.
She still loved to swim at the Franklin YMCA as well as ocean and pools plus she was an avid reader of antique books and biographies .
She is survived by her sons, Donald Ledbury and his wife, Anne of Monticello, Florida and Bruce Ledbury of Franklin, her daughters Marsha Ledbury and her husband, John DeInnocentis of Tewksbury and Jacqueline Prairie of Franklin.
She is also survived by her sister, Annamarie Ruggles of Plymouth, 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late John “Forest” McLatchey, Russell, Clifford, George, Robert and Bernice McLatchey, Dorothy Newell, Barbara Lasky and Rita Stewart.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5 in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Pleasant St. in Franklin at 11:00 a.m.

Following cremation, burial will be in Union Street Cemetery in Franklin.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
