SHARON — Ruth (Carroll) Ashley, age 85 years, of Sharon, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at her home. She was the wife of the late Maynard W. Ashley.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Sibor) Carroll and a graduate of Framingham State College.
Mrs. Ashley was an active member of the Unitarian Church in Sharon and served as Treasurer for many years. A member of the League of Women Voters, she had been employed at the Canton School for Crippled Children for two years and then as a dietician for the Sharon School lunch program for 28 years.
She was an avid gardener, loved travelling, vacations in New Hampshire and with her husband and enjoyed square dancing for over 30 years.
She is survived by her sons, Lee of Sharon and Mark of Grand Junction, Colorado.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, June 2, 2008, at 11 A.M., in Pine Grove Cemetery on Ashley Blvd., in New Bedford. A memorial service will take place at the Unitarian Church in Sharon at a later date.
