Roy Talmadge Pitts, 75, of Tifton died Friday, May 30, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at New Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Cone will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Masons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 31, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Pitts was born on March 11, 1933 in Berrien County and was the son of Phillip Anzley Pitts and Rose Levader Smith Pitts, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by six brothers; six sisters; and one grandchild. He was a retired welder and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Pitts is survived by his wife, Ruby "Christine" Handley Pitts of Tifton; three sons, Billy Hubert Fender of Tifton, Roy Lamar Pitts of Tifton and Wiley Talmadge Pitts of Tifton; three daughters, Mattie Kay Harper of Tifton, Ruby Irene Dudley of Tallahassee, Florida, and Vonia Lee Hogan of Tifton; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
