Mr. Vincent D. Tavernese, age 72, of Andover formerly of Stoneham, died Sunday May 25th at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Gaeta) Tavernese. Born in Medford he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Rose (Pittorino) Tavernese.
Vincent was a resident of Andover for the past 4 years formerly of Stoneham. Mostly devoted to his family he enjoyed and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He loved being with family and friends and loved cooking and eating. He authored and published his own cook book “The Pasta Lovers Diet Book” which was distributed throughout the Boston area . Vincent also enjoyed the occasional game of chance and traveling with friends to Foxwoods Casino.
In addition to his beloved wife Mary Lou. Vincent is survived by his children, V.J. Tavernese of North Reading, Terri Reddy and her husband Stephen of Andover. He is also survived by his grandsons, Michael and Stephen J. Reddy. He is further survived by his sister, Katherine McAvoy of Arlington.
A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28th, in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex St. Andover at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Vincent’s memory to MGH, Beacon Hill Primary Care Research and Education Fund, c/o MGH Development Office, 165 Cambridge St. suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
