Jesup- Mr. Charles W. Poythress, age 73, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008 at his residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia after a short illness. He was a native of Effingham County living in Jesup the past 34 years. He was a retired MSGT; serving 20 years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. He loved RVing, camping, traveling, was a devoted family man and a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Jesup.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years Mrs. Carolyn Dent Poythress of Jesup; mother: Mrs. Bessie Poythress of Jackson GA; son: Brian Poythress of Jesup; two daughters: Donna and husband Ernie Brooks of Jesup; Lisa and husband Jamie Fuentes of Jesup; three grandchildren: Jai and wife Michelle Fuentes of Darien; Emily and Anna Fuentes of Jesup; two great-grandchildren: Alayia Fuentes of Darien and Aiden Woodcock of Darien ; one brother: Henry and wife Louisa Poythress of Toms River, New Jersey; two sisters: Jeraldine and husband Lee Prather of Jackson, GA; Jacklynn and husband Les Miller of Port Charlotte FL., and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles W. Poythress will be held Sunday, May 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Oglesby officiating.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Guy Fussell, Jr., Edgar Dart, David Prather, Travis Prather, Robert Dart and Kevin Taylor.
