Robert L. Fox, Sr., 62

Robert L. Fox, Sr., 62, of Mansfield died peacefully on Wednesday May 21, 2008 surrounded by his loving family at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Ann L. (Johnson) Fox to whom he was wed to on June 20, 1970.
Born in Boston, MA on March 2, 1946 he was a son of the late Ralph L., Sr. and Madelyn (Gilman) Fox.
He grew up in the Roslindale section of Boston, was educated in Boston schools and was a 1963 graduate of Mission High School. He furthered his studies and was a 1968 graduate of Northeastern University.
Upon graduation he proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era in the United States Navy for 4 years, stationed in the Mediterranean aboard the U.S.S. Harry E. Yarnell, he was honorably discharged with the rank of SK2. After starting his family, Bob went back to Northeastern University and received his Masters of Business Degree.
For the past several years Mr. Fox was a Purchasing Agent for the Schepens Eye Research Institute in Boston, he had formerly been employed at Process Facilities Inc. in Boston and previously for 27 years at Stone & Webster Engineering in Boston.
An active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, he served as a Eucharistic Minister for 24 years, taught 8th grade religious education class for 17 years and also served on the Pastoral Council. For his uncompromising devotion at St. Mary’s Church he was honored as a recipient of the Marian Medal from the Fall River Arch Diocese.
Bob was a member of the former Mansfield Jaycee’s and received the Jaycee’s Presidential Award of Honor was named Director of the year from 1981-1982. An avid reader he also enjoyed golfing, traveling, dining out and listening to country music. He was an ardent New England sports fan who especially cheered for the Patriots. His family and grandchildren were the treasures of his life. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 32 years.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 38 years he is survived by his devoted children Robert L. Fox, Jr. and his wife Tracy of North Attleboro, Laurie A. Stuehmer and her husband Jason of Westborough and Michael C. Fox and his wife Sarah of Waltham. He was the dear brother of Ralph L. Fox, Jr. and his wife Mary Lou of Maryland and Barbara A. Muzyka and her husband John of West Roxbury, also survived by his cherished grandchildren Tyler, Ryan, Lily and Isabel as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday May 24th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours on Friday May 23rd from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home
