Obituary

DRACUT - Mary "Maime" Neofotistos, died Tuesday May 20th at Lowell General Hospital.

She was born in Dracut, the daughter of the late Pantelis G. and Vasiliki (Morphis) Neofotistos. She was a member of the first graduating class of Dracut High School. She was also a graduate of the former Lowell State Teachers College, now the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where she received a degree in Elementary Education.

Prior to her retirement, Ms. Neofotistos was principal of the former Goodhue School in Dracut.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell and the Philoptohos Society of Holy Trinity Church.

She was also a member of the MA Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Retired Educators Association of MA, The State, County, and Municipal Employees Association of MA, the Dracut Historical Society, and the Hellenic Women's Benevolent Association of Canton, MA.

She is survived by a sister Helen Laffey of Dracut; six nieces Bette Zygouris and her husband Jim of Dracut, Mary-Ann Hughes and her husband Kenneth of Lowell, Sheila Graham and her husband Steve of Dracut, Ellen Vercontaire and her husband Dave of Dracut, Angela Busby and her husband John of Dracut, and Penny Neofotistos of Dracut; two nephews Ellis Neofotistos of Dracut, and Andrew J. Paraskos of Boston; and many grandnieces and grandnephews, including her Godchild Caroline Anastasia Hughes of Austin, TX.

She was also the sister of the late George P. Neofotistos, John Neofotistos, Steve Neofotistos, Penny Berris, Anastasia "Tessie" Paraskos, Annie Neofotistos, and Connie Neofotistos.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 3 until 7 PM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday at 8:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at 10 AM at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in her name to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01852 or to the Dracut Scholarship Foundations, PO Box 117, Dracut, MA 01826.
