Alexander S. Nasiatka Jr., 91, of 27 Greenmanville Avenue, Mystic, passed away on May 18, 2008 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. Born in Old Mystic on August 20, 1916, he was the son of the late Sophie (Volinsky) and Alexander Nasiatka Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Umrysz) Nasiatka. They were married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Polish Church in New London and would have celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on August 31, 2008.
Alex retired from Prudential Insurance Co. where he was an agent. He will be remembered by many of his clients throughout the Mystic/Stonington area for his door to door personal service. He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Mystic and was a member of the Fr. Murphy Council, Knights of Columbus, Past President of the former Mystic Polish American Club, Charter member of the Groton Lodge of Elks and the Lions Club.
For more than 30 years, Alex and Helene were proud owners of the former Helene’s Healthport in Mystic, retiring in 2003. Since 1978, Wachters’ Organic Sea Products was the main supplement line sold at the Healthport, and to this day, Alex and Helene have continued to actively maintain the availability of their sea vegetation products through their website, www.mysticwachtersdistributor.com.
Alex is also survived by his daughter Janet Przybyz and husband Richard E. of Mystic; son Ronald A. “Hap” Nasiatka and wife Marilyn of Greer, SC; grandchildren Jason Nasiatka of FL, Ryan Nasiatka and wife Amy of NC, Todd Przybysz of Mystic and Kara Przybysz Larkin and husband Shawn of No. Stonington; a great-grandchild, Nicholas Larkin, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Nasiatka of Monson, MA.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, E. Main Sreet, Mystic on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 10am. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic. There are no visiting hours.
