Obituary

Willie Walter "Dick" Jordan was the second child born to the late Matthew and Mable McCrary Jordan on June 10, 1941 in Madison County, Alabama.

His formative years were spent in the Madison County School System and he was a graduate of the class of 1961 of Council Training High School, Normal, Alabama.

Willie married his high school sweetheart, Piney Hammonds in February 1962, their union was blessed with two sons: Willie Derron and Corey Sherard.

Fresh out of high school and newly married, Willie began working for Stinett Service Station, he later became an employee of Genesco Shoe Plant. He retired in 1999 from the Decatur 3M plant, where he was employed for twenty-nine years and nine months. Willie had an entrepreneur spirit and was co-owner of Associated Contractors, Inc.

In his spare time he loved to fish and fire up the grill--he was an avid barbequer. The love of car racing was also a passion of Willie's that he has shared with his grandson, Kari.

On Thanksgiving night, November 2000 Willie made Jesus Christ the center of his life and united with the St. Peter United Methodist Church in Madison, Alabama. Willie's faith never wavered and even through his illness, which began in 1999, he never complained but would always remind everyone that "I'm Blessed" and "The Lord is Good."
