Lois J.Thurber, 84, of Tourtellot Hill Road, Chepachet, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at her home. She was the widow of Joseph E. Thurber, Sr.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Vernon and Adelaide (Howard) Rohan. She had been a resident of Chepachet since 1964 and had previously lived in Smithfield.
She was a graduate of the Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and had also received her Masters Degree in Speech, Hearing, and Language Pathology from the University of Rhode Island in 1970. She was a registered pharmacist for 37 years. She later worked at the Captain Isaac Paine School and the Harmony Hill School as a Speech, Hearing & Language Pathologist before retiring in 2005.
She is survived by her children; Ellyn S. Dembowski and her husband James, of Ventura, CA, Michael V. Thurber of Chepachet, Ruth B. Thurber-Maugetega and her husband, Junior of Garden Grove, CA, Joan L. Thurber and her husband, Rick of Huntington Beach, CA and Andrew J. Thurber and his wife Giuliana of Penacook, NH, seven grandchildren; her stepsons; Joseph E. Thurber of Narragansett, Robert J. Thurber of North Scituate, Raymond J. Thurber of North Providence and a sister Barbara Fracassa of Woodland Hills, CA.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held Thursday at 10am in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Putnam Pike, Greenville. Private burial. Visitation Wednesday 3-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Theatre Company of RI, P.O.
