Kenney, Vera (Solovieff) of Marshfield, died May 11, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth at the age of 97. She was predeceased in March of 2005 by her husband, Glendon S. Kenney. Daughter of the late John K. and Martha (Sorokina) Solovieff, she is survived by a sister Violet Neifert of Sandwich, MA., four generations of caring nieces and nephews, a close knit church family and a circle of loving friends.
Vera was born September 30, 1910 in Tver, Russia. At the age of three she immigrated with her family to the U.S. and settled in the Worcester/Grafton, MA.area. Vera attended and graduated from high school while living in that area. She also attended nursing school at Norwood Hospital and ultimately took a job at the Leahy Clinic where she had a long career in the X-Ray Department. In 1970 she moved to Marshfield with her husband Glen. They were both actively involved in establishing the first recycling program in the Marshfield/Scituate area. A member of the Audubon Society she had a long-time passion for bird watching.
Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service on Saturday June 7, at 12:00 Noon in the North Community Church, Old Main St, Marshfield Hills. A private interment will be held in the Couch Cemetery, Marshfield.
