Obituary

Arthur D. “Bill” Morton age 77 of Salem, NH, died Thursday at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA.

He was born in Plymouth, MA, where he grew up and attended schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950. He later graduated from Burdette College in Boston, MA. Bill was a resident of Salem for the past 47 years, formerly of Plymouth.

Bill was a retired Underwriting Manager for American Policy Holders Insurance Company in Wakefield, MA, where he worked for over 30 years. After his retirement he later worked as a Tax Examiner of the IRS in Andover, MA. He was a US Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. Bill attended St. Joseph Church. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 63 in Salem, NH. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts Troop # 159 and Troop # 442 for over 20 years. He and his wife volunteered at Silverthorne in Salem and the VA Hospital in Manchester, and was a member of NARFE-National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Bill was a direct descendent of Miles Standish, who came over on the Mayflower.

He is survived by his Wife: Bernadette (Kuhn) Morton of Salem, NH

1 Daughter: Janet & her Husband Daniel Reynolds of Houston, TX

1 Son: David Morton of Salem, NH

1 Sister: Dorothy Sturtevant of Plymouth, MA

2 Grandchildren: Jacob & Rachel Reynolds of Houston, TX

Many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 21 from 10 AM – 12 PM, followed by a memorial service at 12 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. Private burial will be in Plymouth, MA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10305
