Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Louise M. Ellis, 83, formerly of Wheeler Street, died early Wednesday morning, May 14, 2008 in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester following an extended illness.
Born in Gloucester on March 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Carleton F. and Lillian G. (Murray) Ellis. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1943 and had attended the Conservatory of Music in Boston.
Louise was employed as a secretary at the Massachusetts Electric Company in Gloucester and Salem for over forty years before retiring in 1987. She was a well known soloist throughout New England. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Gloucester and a life member of the Martha Washington Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, now known as the Heard Chapter. Louise was also an avid Boston Bruins fan.
She is survived by her sister, Geneva B. Anderson of Gloucester, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carleton F., Jr. and Josephine (Lafata) Ellis of Gloucester and Arnold F. Ellis of Beverly, four nieces, Donna L. and her husband, Kent Davis and Jane A. Levie all of Gloucester, the Rev. Holly B. and her husband, Gregg Anderle of Racine, Wisconsin and Deeanna L. Ellis of Braintree, five nephews, A. Thelton, Jr. and his wife, Beth Anderson, Carleton F., III and his wife, Janis Ellis all of Gloucester, Anthony F. and his wife, Janine Ellis of Beverly, Arnold F., Jr. and his wife, Kathy Ellis of Lynn and Jamie and his wife, Gretchen Ellis of Essex and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister and two brothers-in-law, Harriett L. and Ralph C. Levie and Arthur T. Anderson and a nephew, John Ellis.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church, 38 Gloucester Ave., Gloucester, MA 01930. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery, W. Gloucester.
