
Daniel H. Powderly, 71 of Sharon died May 11 at his home following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Mary J. (Flynn) Powderly who died in 2006.
Born in Boston, June 26, 1935, the son of the late Hugh and Ann (Brennan) Powderly, Mr. Powderly was raised in Boston and had lived in Sharon since 1977.
Mr. Powderly attended the Franklin Institute in Boston. He had been a civil engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 25 years.
Mr. Powderly served in the Army during the Korean War.
He enjoyed gardening and the Red Sox.
He is survived by his children, Richard Powderly of York, Maine, Mary Jo Gilmore and her husband, Christopher of Sharon and Daniel Powderly of Dublin, Ohio.
He is also survived by his sisters, Geraldine Bulman of West Bridgewater, Barbara Smith of Walpole, Patricia Zachery of Brockton and the late Mary Tornburg.
He was the brother in law of Charles and Dianne Flynn of Dedham and Carl and Carol Bjork and Thomas Flynn of Walpole.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christie Gilmore, Richard Powderly, Dayna Powderly, Amanda Powderly and Samantha Gilmore.
His funeral will be held on May 15 from the Ginley funeral Home 892 Main St. in Walpole at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Sharon at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
