Obituary

BEVERLY: Ernestine (Pisani) Pinciaro, 97, of 20 Sohier Road, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Henry Enrico Pinciaro who died in 1948.
Born in Beverly on November 25, 1910, she was the first child of thirteen born to the late Michael and Rose (Yadersinia) Pisani. She was a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1929.
Unexpectedly widowed in December of 1948, it fell upon her to absorb the responsibility of supporting her three young fatherless children. In this, she struggled and succeeded without complaint.
She eked out her living as a server in her father’s “Rantoul Café” as well as in the other family enterprise, “Pisani’s Market”. She spent her latter working years as a house attendant at Endicott College in Beverly, where she earned the love and respect of the students. Upon retirement she settled in at the Garden City Towers in Beverly, where she was known and loved by all as “Ernie”.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly. She passionately served as a member of the local Our Lady of Fatima organization for many years. Ernestine was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also harbored great concern for the well being of her very many friends. She was known for her cheerful “whatta you say”.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Henry “Tubby” and Eleanor (Sellenger) Pinciaro and Robert E. Pinciaro, a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Anthony D. Dettorre all of Beverly, five sisters, Margaret Mirandi and Vera Flint both of Beverly, Evelyn Mobilia of Medford, Yolanda Essler and Gloria Durkee both of Danvers and a brother, Michael Pisani of Beverly. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Ricky and his wife, Kathleen Pinciaro, Judith and her husband, Arthur Sudak, Anthony Dettorre, Robert and his wife, Susan Dettorre, David and his wife, Patricia Pinciaro, Lori Cassola and Paul Dettorre her fourteen most beloved great-grandchildren, all of whom kept very close contact with their “Nona” and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by granddaughter, Lucia Dettorre, five sisters, Josephine Cookson, Helen Rossi, Olga Stewart, Rosemary Pisani, and Shirley Levesque, a brother, Anthony Pisani and a daughter-in-law, Carol (LaChance) Pinciaro.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
