Obituary

AUBURN-Edward P. Johnson 69, of 8 Old Cart Road, died Saturday, December 22nd in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 25 years Phyllis A. (Wilk) Letteri-Johnson; four step-sons Paul J. Letteri of Auburn, Joseph T. and Peter V. Letteri both of Willington, CT and James L. Letteri of Worcester; a step-daughter Cynthia R. Letteri of Durham, CT; a brother Harold R. Johnson of Worcester; a step brother William O’Connor of Worcester; four sisters Nila M. Allen of Spencer, Shirley F. Johnson of Worcester, Marilyn R. Tonelli of Charlton and Cathleen M. Wilk of Worcester; a grandson, a granddaughter and several nephews and nieces.

He was born in Worcester, son of Harold J. and Catherine (O’Connor) Johnson. He was a graduate of Leicester High School where he was an outstanding football player. Mr. Johnson was veteran of the Korean War serving as a crew chief in the United States Air Force. Mr. Johnson retired as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service after 31 years and later worked at Astra Pharmaceuticals in Westboro. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, NARFE and the Greendale YMCA. He was an automobile enthusiast and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

The funeral will be held Thursday, December 27th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 AM mass in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 8:30 until 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 27th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, MA Affiliate, Inc., 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
