
Albert M. Pawlina of Wellesley and Cumaquid, formerly of Worcester, died May 10, 2008. Devoted husband of Rita M. (Paletta) Pawlina. Son of the late Alexander and Suzanne (Kassa) Pawlina. Loving father of A. Thomas Pawlina and his wife Ceile Clemente of Melrose, Sue P. Picard and her husband Richard of Sandwich, Kay P. Hall and her husband Larry of Wayne, N.J., Marybeth P. Canedy and her husband John of E. Orleans, MA., and Julie P. Barker and her husband Chris of Needham. Also Survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Beloved Brother of Alexander Pawlina of Auburn, Natalie Rudzinski formerly of Worcester and the late Stephen Pawlina of Worcester.
Funeral Mass in St Paul 's Church, Wellesley, Wednesday, May 14 at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Albert graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1938. He practiced retail and hospital pharmacy before joining E.R. Squibb and Sons as a professional service representative. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served with the Seventh General Hospital (Boston City Hospital) Unit in England, France and Belgium. He returned to E.R. Squibb and Sons after the war and served in various managerial positions including National Sales Director. After his retirement from Squibb, Al joined his alma mater, the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, as Alumni Director in 1973. He was later promoted to Vice President of External Affairs, a post he held until 1982. A former member and Vice President of the College's Board of Trustees, he was a recipient of the 1977 Alumni Achievement Award. He was also President of the Alumni Association of the College and the Editor of the Apothecary, a publication for pharmacists. Al authored "The Family Prescription and Medical Guide" and he also coordinated the development of Medi-Message, a telephone prescription information service.
Al and his wife Rita enjoyed many memorable summers on Cape Cod with their family and friends where he was known for his prowess with a clam rake.
