Obituary

Harvey H. Kenyon, 85, of Dartmouth died May 8, 2008 at home after a long illness surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of the late Emily L. (Bernardo) Kenyon.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Harvey and Nellie (Harrington) Kenyon, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Kenyon was an avid woodworker who enjoyed building furniture and boats. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and ballroom dancing.He was formerly employed by Morse Cutting Tools for many years until retirement. He later worked as a custodian at First Federal Bank on Union St. in New Bedford.
Mr. Kenyon served in the U.S. Army during World War II participating in the Battles of Normandy, the Rhineland, Ardennes and Northern France. He was a recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Infantry Combat Badge, the American Theater Campaign ribbon, the American Defense Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Kenyon was a well loved resident of Monroe Terrace Housing in Dartmouth where he and his companion Juliet hosted many Holiday parties and cookouts for the residents.
Survivors include a son, Brian Kenyon, and his wife Debra, of New Bedford; a daughter, Joy Levin, and her husband Michael, of Sharon, MA; his companion, Juliet Parent of Dartmouth; 3 grandchildren, Stacy, Benjamin and Melissa, 2 great-grandchildren, Emily and Rocco; several brothers and sisters.

His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 12th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. His family will receive guests on Monday morning from 10 AM - 11 AM prior to his service. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Southcoast Hospice 200 Mill Rd., Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
