Obituary

Evelyn (Murphy) (Trottier) Thomas, 73, formerly of Weymouth and Abington, died in the St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, Maine, after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of Walter D. Thomas and the late Joseph Trottier, daughter of the late Paul A. and Alberta (Landry) Murphy. Evelyn was born in Quincy, brought up in Waltham, and a 1952 graduate of Waltham High School. A self employed tailor, she also volunteered for Braintree Hospice and Homecare. In retirement, she served as a volunteer at hospitals in Maine. Evelyn enjoyed summering at her lakeside cabin in Northern Maine. A lover of nature, she was widely known for her congenial personality, and sense of humor.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Ruth Patrick and her husband Robert of Abington, her brother Paul Murphy of Nevada; also 4 grandchildren, Michelle Mulcahy of Natick, Michael and Mark Leonard of Abington and Robert Patrick Jr. of Abington
Her services will be held Tuesday May 13th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman; burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visitation will be on Monday May 12th from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut Street/Suite 301, Brockton, MA 02301
