LOWELL—William A. Vezina, 66 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died unexpectedly after a brief illness, Wednesday, April 30th at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, in Burlington. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet (Pacula) Vezina.
He was born in Lowell, on May 15, 1941, a son of Archie L. Vezina, of Windham, NH and the late Mary (Witts) Vezina. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Grammar School and Lowell High School.Mr. Vezina had been employed by the United States Postal Service for over 36 years.
At the time of his retirement he was Superintendent of Postal Operations in Nashua, NH. He was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Polish Church. He held memberships in the East End Club and the Lowell Lodge of Elks, was an avid New England sports fan, and loved to golf. His favorite thing about retirement was being able to spend more time with his eleven grandchildren.
Surviving him, besides his wife and father, are: his father's wife, Emily Vezina, of Windham, NH; four children and their spouses: Diane and George Nickerson, of Dracut; William A. Vezina, Jr. and his wife Heather, of Valley Ranch, TX; Edward Vezina, of Lowell; and Sharon and Patrick Carey, of Tewksbury; two sisters and their spouses: Ann Marie and Raymond Hodge, of Lowell; and Mary Beth and Steven Corcoran, of Windham, NH; a brother, Raymond Vezina, of Dracut; his eleven grandchildren: Bridget, Sophie, Allison, Sarah, Peter, Kevin, and Patricia Carey; Michael Nickerson; Molly and Benjamin Vezina; and William A. Vezina III; an uncle, Francis Witts, and his wife Susan; also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, May 5th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street (Rte. 38), Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, May 6th, at 10 AM at the Holy Trinity Polish Church, High Street, Lowell. Burial in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell.
