Oxford- Anthony Mita 76 of 8 Bacon Street Oxford died February 24th in his home.
Mr. Mita is survived by two sons, Francis A. Mita and Thomas C. Mita both of Oxford; two daughters, Catherine M. Jones of New Hampshire and Arlene T. Mita of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia; a brother, Tedy C. Mita of Worcester; two sisters, Nellie Russek and Jean Fayard both of Worcester; Twelve grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Another sister, Helen Mita of Worcester predeceased him.He was born in Palmer a son of Frank and Mary (Jakubaszek) Mita and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1949.He later served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was discharged with the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Mita retired in 1988 after working for twelve years as an Inspector and Assembler with Coppus Engineering Co. Previously he worked in the same capacity for Crompton & Knowles Corporation for thirty years.He had been a member of Saint Roch's Parish for many years. Mr. Mita enjoyed bird watching and was a member of The Auburn Sportsmans Club, The American Legion, Webster Dudley Post; The VFW Oxford Post, and the Booster Athletic Club of Webster. He was also a member of the 200 Sportsman's Club.
The funeral will be held Friday February 28th from The Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home 33 Ward St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery Worcester.Calling hours at he funeral home are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday February 27th.
