Patrick J. Poitras, 76, of Naticook Avenue, Litchfield, NH died Monday February 24, 2003 at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. He was born in Salem, MA on October 4, 1926, a son of the late Patrick and Marie (Levesque) Poitras. He was a resident of Litchfield for the past nine months, formerly living in Albion, ME and Salem, MA for many years. He was a World War II US Army veteran. He was employed as a cook for Mt. Pleasant Hospital in Lynn, MA until retiring, and was previously a cook at the Salem Diner in Salem, MA. He had also been employed for the Winslow Chip Co. in Marblehead, MA. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Salem, MA. He enjoyed golf, playing cards and tole painting. He loved to cook. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy M. (Conlon) Poitras in 1997.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Gerard (Patricia) Salvucci, Litchfield, three sisters, Adrienne Mallon, Methuen, MA, Corinne Hayward, Beverly, MA, Jeanne Lynch, Danvers, MA, one brother, Roch Poitras, Danvers, MA, many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 1st at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield. Burial will be in the spring at Danforth Cemetery, Albion, ME. Friends may call at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry on Friday from 5 – 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage United Way, 228 Maple St., 4th floor, Manchester, NH 03103.
